Cinnamon - the Spice of Life

Kia Ora

We wish you a special time over Easter.    It is a good time to think of all the many blessings in life and show gratitude to those who are close.   Roger and I are looking forward to a family Easter down south.   Perhaps take a moment to contemplate the deeper meaning of Easter, beyond marshmallow and chocolate eggs.

If you do indulge in chocolate, enjoy it!  Say goodbye to guilt - it's bad for your health.  Remember that dark chocolate is best, if you have a choice.

Another favourite Easter food is Hot Cross Buns and one of the healthier ingredients in these spicy buns is cinnamon - the subject of my article this week.

Cinnamon is a fantastic spice for the blood and circulation.  Find out why adding more cinnamon to your diet can keep your heart happy, in this article:   Cinnamon and Health Health

Of course just because cinnamon is a heart hero doesn't mean you can eat cinnamon- doughnuts every day!   Try it sprinkled on your cereal, mixed in Bircher Muesli, or in a spicy casserole.  This week we have a wonderful exotic-tasting grain dish for you to try: Cinnamon Pilaf

I'll leave you with a beautiful Maori saying:

Rere atu, rere mai
Taku manu e
Rere ki tua, rere ki ko
Kia Whetuurangitia

Fly, my bird
In every direction
Attain
The countless stars

Be well and keep looking after yourself. You are doing great!
Anna.
