Mango Lassi for Digestive Health
Kia Ora
I've been
enjoying having my friend and Shiatsu teacher Sonia Moriceau with us over the
past few days. This morning I made her a Mango Lassi for
breakfast - a delectable yoghurt
drink with origins in
India. Here's the recipe: Mango Lassi
Sonia comes from
England, and it's wonderful how
having someone to visit makes me appreciate the beauty of the area we live in.
We are planning to take her on a tramp ("hike", to those of you from
North America!) in
the Nelson lakes National Park, to the very same hut where Roger and I had our
first date! It's a gorgeous place high
in the alpine landscape, overlooking
Lake
Rotoiti. I highly recommend that neck of the woods if
you're ever in the vicinity.
Two weekends ago
Roger and I tramped up Mt Owen, famous for it's dramatic sculptural landscape,
displayed vividly in several scenes of the Lord of the Rings movie. It was incredible; quite a grind getting up
there, but well worth it! It is a
natural art gallery. Of course we ate well when we were out there camping (we'll
write about camping food in a future e-mail) but it was the landscape which
really fed me on all levels.
I encourage you to get out there and feed your senses with the natural beauty in your area. Breathe deeply as you walk. Enjoy the simple blessings of nature, while doing something good for your body. Who said exercise had to be hard work!
Now try this exotic healthy treat. It's refreshing, nourishing and balancing - and may be enjoyed as breakfast or dessert (yummy after a curry!). Live yoghurt, full of good probiotic bacteria, is great for the intestines and helpful for healing Candida. The cardamom adds a little warmth.
Here's the recipe
again: Mango Lassi
